While most people will have their own steps and methods in setting up such a business, there are some common steps that, if followed, will ensure you are on the right track.

The first among these is to have the right focus and not be swayed by the innumerable opportunities that present themselves. You might have been a handyman before, but in business you need to choose your area carefully. Give thought to what you want and then stick to it. Don’t be overwhelmed with doubts. If you have done your research well, the doubts will fade away.

There is a time for everything, including a time to act. Once you have all the required information, MOVE!! You needn’t wait to learn everything before stepping out. Just what you need will suffice. It is always a good idea to have someone to guide you. Someone in the same line will be a good bet, as they will help you avoid the pitfalls that you may not be aware of while guiding you in the right path.

Don’t try to blaze a path until the business is established and the money starts coming in. Then you can think of experimenting. One thing you need bucket loads of is patience. Just because the net is instant, don’t expect the money to start rolling in from next Monday. In most cases, it should take you at least 6 to 12 months to generate a decent income.

Last but not least is the need to have passion to see it through all the ups and downs. For, without this last bit, all that you set out to do may fall by the wayside at the first hint of a storm or perhaps even a breeze!
